G650 Aircraft - The Gulfstream G650 made its maiden flight in November 2009. After receiving FAA type certification in 2012, the first was delivered to a US customer that same year. At the time of its introduction, it was the largest, fastest and most expensive Gulfstream aircraft on the market. (Since surpassed by the G700). In 2014, the G650 won the National Aeronautic Association's Collier Trophy for its technological advances and contributions to business aviation. Here is a breakdown of the costs you will incur when buying and running a Gulfstream G650.
When first released, a new Gulfstream G650 cost $64.5 million. However, with a three-year wait list, demand soon pushed the price up to $73 million. After a few years, enthusiasm waned and the price stabilized. A used Gulfstream G650 typically costs between $40 million and $55 million, depending on age, condition, and usage.

The Gulfstream G650 cabin is 16.33 m long or 14.27 m (46.27 ft) without baggage. With a height of 1.9m there is plenty of room to move around comfortably. Depending on the internal configuration, it can accommodate 19 passengers and a bedroom for 10 people. The cabin can be divided into 4 different living rooms. It has a fully equipped kitchen, satellite phone, WiFi and many other entertainment features.

There are 16 oval picture windows that ensure excellent views and plenty of natural light in the cabin. An air circulation system reduces fatigue by delivering 100% fresh air and a noise cancellation system that Gulfstream claims is the quietest in aviation.
The Gulfstream G650 uses two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, each capable of producing 16,900lb of thrust. Maximum range, based on 8 passengers and 4 crew, is 7,000 nm (12,964 km). The launch distance is 1,786 m (5,858 feet). The long-distance cruising speed is Mach 0.85 (488 kn / 904 km/h).
In 2014, Gulfstream announced the G650ER, an extended-range version of the aircraft capable of flying 7,500 nm (13,900 km) at Mach 0.85. The launch distance is 1,920 m (6,299 ft).
The table below shows the "live mission costs" for typical 1,000 nm, 3,000 nm and 6,000 nm missions on the Gulfstream G650. The table includes the cost of fuel consumed, maintenance, parts and spares (variable cost) divided by actual flight time for the duration of the mission. The fuel price used for this study is based on an average price of $4.75 per gallon and the flights are assumed to carry 8 passengers and 4 crew members. Fuel economy information includes taxiing, takeoff, climb, cruise, descent, and landing.

These costs must be borne by the operator or a flight department, regardless of the utilization of the aircraft. This includes flight crew salaries, annual training and the cost of helmet insurance, which is calculated by multiplying the liability factor for every $100 of helmet insurance.
This expense is directly related to the operation of the aircraft and is expressed as a cost per hour. These include fuel costs, maintenance costs, parts costs and engine reserve costs. Reported numbers are based on actual operator experience collected by AirPower Software. Parts, labor and spares assume the aircraft is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
Fuel costs include a price of $4.75 per liter and an average fuel consumption of 409 liters per hour.
There are additional fees that vary based on usage, these are the "Annual Cabin Service Fee" and the "Annual Travel Assistance Fee". The latter includes in-flight catering, commercial flights by flight crew, ground handling and landing/parking fees when the aircraft is not at its home airport. The breakdown is as follows:

Assuming the aircraft is used 400 hours per year, the total cost of ownership for the year is:
In summary, the total annual cost of ownership of the Gulfstream G650 at 400 hours per year is $3,347,620 and the cost per flight hour is $8,369.
AirPower Software Group, Inc. provided these numbers. Their tool, AircraftBudgetAnalyzer, allows you to fully customize these operational costs to model your usage and needs. For example, if you plan to charter the aircraft for a specific number of hours, you can model this impact on the total cost and change other costs or hours to match your expectations.

To get an overview of the different options with background information on product types and providers, start with the free private aviation guide below. It can be configured to carry 11 to 18 passengers. Gulfstream launched the G650 program in 2005 and made it public in 2008. The G650 was the company's largest and fastest business jet, reaching a speed of Mach 0.925, surpassing the larger G700.
The aircraft project was named a 2014 Collier Trophy winner for "empowering corporate aviation through significant technological advances in aircraft performance, cabin comfort and safety."
The Gulfstream G650 was officially unveiled as an internal company project in May 2005 and was revealed to the public on March 13, 2008. In the public announcement, company officials stated that the new model would become Gulfstream's largest, fastest and most expensive business jet. the market
The design of the wing was completed in 2006. In 2008, a total of 1,400 hours of wind tunnel testing was performed. A pressure test hull was built and tested to 18.37 psi (including final pressure test at 1,267 hPa).

On May 4, 2010, it was announced that flight testing had been completed for a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925.
Gulfstream announced on August 26, 2010 that the G650 achieved a top speed of Mach 0.995 in a single dive as part of its 1,800 hour flight test program.
In April 2011, shortly after a G650 crashed. The cause was determined to be related to the speed performed for the single engine takeoff run. The G650 test aircraft remained grounded until May 28, 2011, when the remaining test aircraft were allowed to return for flight testing.
But there was a three-year waiting list. Some aircraft produced for delivery in 2013 sold for more than $70 million to buyers wanting immediate delivery.
Gulfstream G650 Charter
After climbing to $71-73 million in 2014, initial enthusiasm evaporated and the value of used G650s stabilized at $50 million in 2018 after competitor Bombardier Global 7500 was secured.
On May 18, 2014, Gulfstream announced at the annual European Business Aviation Association show that it had developed an extended range version called the G650ER. The G650ER can fly 7,500 nautical miles (13,900 km; 8,600 mi) at Mach 0.85 due to an increased fuel capacity of 4,000 pounds (1,814 kg). Gulfstream said that in March a G650ER development aircraft flew non-stop from Hong Kong to Teterboro, New Jersey in the United States, a distance of 7,494 nautical miles (13,879 km; 8,624 mi); It also flew non-stop from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia. Additional fuel is stored in the space inside the G650's wings, and existing aircraft can be quickly upgraded to the ER version. The G650ER received certification in October 2014 and shipped in late 2014.
That same year, a G650ER set a new record for the longest non-stop flight by a corporate jet, 8,010 nautical miles (14,835 km; 9,218 mi) from Singapore to Las Vegas with four passengers. and the crew. The record was broken by a Bombardier Global 7500 in March 2019,
The G650ER flew 8,379 nautical miles (15,518 km) from Singapore to Tucson in April 2019 before reclaiming the record.
Gulfstream G650 Overview (2012 Present)
Also in May 2014, Gulfstream confirmed that it would offer the G650 to the United States Air Force for its program to replace the E-8C JSTARS air-to-ground surveillance and target aircraft. Still new requirements call for an aircraft with a crew of 10-13 and belly-mounted radar.
However, the 2019 budget presentation announced that the Air Force would not go forward with an E-8C replacement aircraft. Funds from the JSTARS recapitalization program will instead be used to fund the development of an advanced combat management system.
In September 2018, Gulfstream conducted tests at London City Airport to ensure the aircraft could handle steep approaches.
On the eve of the NBAA Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas in October 2019, Gulfstream announced its new flagship, the G700, and shared video of the plane moving under its own power in Savannah. It should be able to do 7,500 nautical miles/13,890 km at Mach 0.85 or 6,400 nautical miles/11,853 km at Mach 0.90. Its longer cabin offers space for five people
